Drawing Society

Graphic Designer (2025)

Overview:

The UNSW Drawing Society is a student-run arts community of nearly 2,000 members, publishing an annual themed zine that showcases work from emerging illustrators and hobbyist artists. For the 2025 edition, Underwater Fantasy, the society envisioned a dreamlike world beneath the surface—sunlit currents, drifting creatures, and stories carried through the tides.

Role:

As the zine’s graphic designer, I developed the full identity system for the publication and its promotional campaign. This included visual direction, typography, colour palette, layout templates, and social media assets. Working closely with the committee, I created a narrative device—bottled messages sent to the mascots, Gill and Shork—to unify the visual story while remaining consistent with the society’s existing brand.

Outcome:

Delivered a 60+ page art publication featuring work from 30+ contributing artists, supported by a cohesive identity and campaign system. The visuals balanced playfulness with clarity, enhancing accessibility for a diverse community and ensuring all assets remained recognisably within the DrawSoc brand. Assets were delivered on schedule and used consistently across print and digital channels.
